چکیده
This study is a novel approach toward the development of chemical-free and sustainable textile dyeing process with minimum environmental risks. Cotton fabrics were cationized (3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl) trimethylammonium chloride in four concentrations subsequently dyed black tea extract. Eco-friendly colorant extraction from raw leaves was carried out aqueous media avoiding use hazardous organic solvents. The major coloring components extract are polyphenols like theaflavins thearubigin. Cationized cotton different shade depths without employing auxiliary chemicals process. For comparison, un-cationized same shades. It observed that samples exhibited very low color strength ( K/S ) values excellent colorfastness rating. However, showed remarkable enhancement their an increase concentration cationizing agent. Furthermore, to washing, rubbing, perspiration excellent, but lightfastness poor. Deep shades = 8.996) obtained for sample (20 g/l) (6%) Thus, natural colorants toxic solvents, economically viable surface modification cotton, render cleaner, sustainable, practicable at industrial scale. units could easily adopt this regulate pollution-free modifying existing infrastructure.

A Comparative Study on Dyeing of Cotton and Silk Fabric Using Madder as a Natural Dye
Madder is considered the queen of the reds which is one of the oldest used natural dyes. In this study, madder was applied to cotton and silk fabrics by using mordants in various ways to investigate the coloring effects. Alum and copper sulphate were used as mordants not only before and after dyeing process but also during the process. The aqueous extract of the dye was applied on the scoured c...
متن کاملFunctional Dyeing of Wool with Natural Dye Extracted from Berberis vulgaris Wood and Rumex Hymenosepolus Root as Biomordant
In this study, a functional colorant, Berberine, extracted from Berberis vulgaris wood was applied onto wool fiber using the extract of roots of Rumex Hymenosepolus as biomordant. The effect of treatment variables on the color strength of dyed fibers was examined. The fastness properties of dyed wool against washing, light, dry and wet rubbing were evaluated. Dyed samples were tested for an...
متن کاملExtraction of Natural Dye from Osyris Quadripartita and Application in Dyeing of Cotton Fabrics
Natural dyes are widely used in the coloring of food, leather and wood [1]. Traditionally they were the only colorants for textile fibers like wool, silk, cotton and flax. Their use in textiles declined drastically with the introduction of synthetic dyes in 1856 [2-6]. Presently the use of synthetic dyes is estimated at around 10,000,000 tons per annum [7-11]. The manufacture and use of this la...
متن کاملDyeing Properties and Color Fabrics Using Natural Dye and Mordant
An ecological approach has been obtained by using natural dyes and mordant for dyeing process. Fabrics dyed using myrobalan extract as natural mordants and green dye. A red color were obtained by using theses mordants. The color of dyed fabrics was investigated in CIELab L, a and b and K/S values. Finally, all dyed fabrics were tested for wash and light fastness properties as per ISO standard t...
متن کاملSalt-free dyeing of cotton fabric modified with prepared chitosan-poly propylene imine dendrimer using direct dyes
This study presents a novel method for eco-friendly dyeing of cotton fabrics with direct dyes. Cotton fabric modified with chitosan-poly propylene imines dendrimer CS-PPI, and its dyeing and fastness properties were investigated using three direct dyes. The impacts of important factors, i.e., CS-PPI concentration, dye concentration, dyeing time, dyeing temperature, and salt concentration were i...
